These are France´s delis. The assortment of sliced meats, fish, sea-food in aspic, saumon fumé, avocados with crabmeat, pâtés, salads, fancy vegetables and prepared dishes like brandade de morue, hachis parmentier, choucroute and more are always a savory delight. These stores tend to be expensive but highly pleasurable. They offer a whole gamut of dishes guaranteeing instant culinary success when entertaining or when you want to treat yourself to something tasty and beautiful. When buying cold cuts, order by the number of slices, indicating if you want them fine (thin). When buying pâtés and terrines, you indicate the quantity by where the clerk places the knife. To avoid buying more than you want, state, "un peu moins que ça, s´il vous plaât" Cold cuts are often pre-cut and servers don´t like cutting additional slices. Insist.
